Description
Join us for the presentation A neurodiversity-affirming, holistic approach to assessment and support planning for the paediatric ADHD population, that won the SPA 2024 Excellence award for Best Oral Presentation!
2 hour ONLINE workshop
We will dive deeper into this session, by providing time for individual and group work, reflection, and discussion of effective strategies and resources that you can use to support your ADHDers by embracing neurodiversity.
Linda (an ADHDer herself) brings over 20 years of clinical experience as a paediatric speech pathologist. She is a Mum to three multiply neurodivergent tweens and teens, all formally diagnosed with ADHD. Her lived experience and professional expertise offer a unique perspective, blending research, evidence-based practices and personal insights.
By attending the presentation you will:
- Gain insights into viewing ADHD children and adolescents holistically within the larger context of their family, community and society.
- Discuss the differences between the medical and social models of disability and how we can support the social, community and family systems to embrace neurodiversity.
- You will discover speech pathologists’ crucial role in promoting and supporting advocacy for ADHDers, enabling you to drive positive change at the family, community and society levels.
- Talk about 5 guidelines/tips for working with the ADHD population.
- Receive several printables to help determine social-community strengths, family strengths and interests.
